CME Exchange to Expand Crypto Derivatives with XRP Futures Launch in May 2025

CME Group announced plans to launch XRP futures contracts on May 19, 2025, subject to regulatory approval. The derivatives platform will offer both micro (2,500 XRP) and standard-sized (50,000 XRP) contracts, continuing its expansion into digital asset derivatives after recent SOL futures and spot-quoted BTC/ETH products.

This development highlights increasing institutional interest in XRP’s underlying ledger technology. CME has been a pioneer in crypto derivatives, having previously introduced Bitcoin and Ethereum futures before expanding to altcoins. The XRP futures launch follows CME’s June 2025 roadmap for equity indices products.
